I loved how calm and supportive you were pre-birth and the exceptional level of organisation you showed in your approach 🙂 During the birth you made such a profound difference to my state of mind. I was struggling and feeling unsure before you arrived and I instantly felt like I could relax into the process knowing I was in good and experienced hands. As first time parents, both Felipe and I didn't really know what to expect and we both benefited from your calming and reassuring presence. You melted into the background as you took images and it was so special for us to be able to revisit the birth and the memories that you captured so beautifully. Your visits post birth, with help that we were so grateful for as well as the little text messages here and there reminded us that we have support around us and helped us to feel more comfortable in our new role as parents. Thankyou so much for being a beautiful part of our journey!
Having Cara was what I would call a gift! Our experience with her was absolutely amazing, what I appreciated the most is the beautiful and calm way that she had at every single moment; she definitely has a pure love for what she does, and that is priceless when you decide to let someone to accompany you in this extraordinary journey. The benefits of having Cara with us, are many, but the emotional support that she gave to my husband and I is probably one of the most remarkable thing! Her energy surrounded us at all the time! I would definitely recommend her to a friend and to anyone else the would like to have an extraordinary support during this precious moment. Honestly there is nothing I can think she can improve. Everything was beautiful since the very first day we met her. Her antenatal support was great, during my long labour was even better and postnatal was really helpful.
Cara was an absolute GEM! Before the birth she was always available to us for ANYTHING big or small. As soon as she arrived for labour, we just felt so much more relaxed. Myself and Meighan both breathed more easily. Cara popped out of the shadows just when we needed her and gave us space at the right times too. Cara somehow managed to take (beautiful) photos with flash during the birth process without us even realising. I have never shown so many pictures of myself to anyone before and it’s just because they are so tasteful and precious! Thankyou Cara you’re an absolute legend! ❤️
Amazing ability to bring joy and support (and of course wonderful photography) yet remain almost invisible.
Mama Cara was kind and gentle and managed to win my husband over which I thought was impossible. When we were overwhelmed in the birth when things started escalating she was there on the phone for him to talk things through calmly and make sense of the situation. Covid prohibited the birth support in the hospital but Cara was on the phone for us all the way. When we got home and had information overload and the hormones were kicking in she made sense of all the different midwife advice for us and told us the latest research. That’s exactly how I work. We have relatively had a breeze breastfeeding since. Your massages are amazing and just what I needed.
I found the whole experience to be amazing; everything from the pre-visits to the day itself! Plus all of the texts in-between. I love looking back at the images that were captured as they helped me to piece back the day and what happened. I was 100% more relaxed with you around. I know it would have resulted in a c-section had you have not been there. The gifts were a lovely added touch too!
Going into the birth of my second baby, I knew I wanted to capture the emotion of meeting our baby and the moment my 2 year old met his new sibling. From our first meeting, I knew Mama Cara understood my wishes and would be the right fit for our birth. She exceeded every expectation and managed to capture every beautiful moment. Each photo is priceless memory. My husband did have some reservations about inviting another person into such a personal experience, yet her calming presence helped contribute to such a positive atmosphere. Then when we received a sneak peak his words were "these are so precious". I could not describe it better. I love the video. It reduced me to tears. I am beyond thankful. I am forever grateful for Mama Cara and these memories I will now be able to look through for my life.
Cara was caring, calm and supportive throughout our labour at home and at the hospital. She supported us so that we could have the natural birth we wanted.
I think you balanced letting us stay in our zone together and when to interject or join in and that was what I wanted. You must have taken a lot of the questions by the midwife so she left us alone and we wanted and appreciated that. You helped Matt so he could help me and you also helped me, but let Matt be #1 and that was what we wanted. You were also very friendly and calm and understanding when we got you in for that false start at 2am. You were easy to deal with. You also provided extra detail on the hospital procedure checks after birth so we could make a more informed choice and I really appreciated that.
Cara, I really enjoyed your calm nature. I felt that our bubba picked up on your energy and was happy and settled with you. I could see your connection with him so it was easy to trust leaving the room to have a rest. I like that you met with us before to personalise how you could best help us. Thank you so much. We will miss having you here!
Such a lovely positive presence, non intrusive but helpful when we needed. I felt completely relaxed in your presence and it was not obvious to me that you were there. The photos are beautiful and you captured moments we had forgotten about. It was also wonderful to see images of the birth of our baby later. Beautifully, it framed the birth in such a positive light. Thank you!
Chloe and I were lucky enough to have Cara capture the beautiful moments of the birth of our baby Ziggy, and also the special moments when we arrived to introduce Ziggy to his older sister. Cara was always accomodating to make meeting times to suit us and was there at the drop of a hat to capture our birth. Steve and I were fortunate to have Cara come and photograph the incredible homebirth of our beautiful baby girl, Lennox Rose, one month ago. We felt that Cara's lovely soft and caring nature came through into her professional work and she certainly did not come across as invasive or intrusive into our precious birth space. I was already in the birth pool and in the zone, barely registering Cara's arrival. Steve and I both felt like we hardly knew that Cara was in the room at times. Cara was able to capture stunning 'in the moment' photos of myself labouring in the pool being supported by my husband, doula and midwife, of our daughter crowning and coming earthside, of her meeting us for the first time including our eldest daughter, Arley May, and of the delicious post-birth moments of weighing bubs and family cuddles all tucked up in bed with tea and toast. We thank Cara for capturing these special moments for our family and we couldn't recommend Cara more as a fabulous birth photographer dedicated to her work in creating lasting memories. ✨🙏🏼✨
Beautiful calm energy
It is without reservation that I can highly recommend Cara as your Doula. She is friendly, warm, funny and practical. Cara’s presence and support throughout my labor to birth and that week I spent in hospital with Ash really lifted my spirits, helped me to rest and bond with my son. Cara was absolutely amazing during Ashley’s delivery. I needed to have an epidural as Ash wasn’t engaging so I went to have a Caesar. My mind was on contractions and watching the team of medical staff around me. During this time Cara supported my mum and recorded everything on film. Those photos are something I look back on often and instantly I’m right back there again. In the years ahead these photos will be amazing to look at with Ashley and for me to re live the experience. Her intuition and love was a perfect fit for my needs and really I couldn’t have had more attention from her. After the birth her light hearted approach was fun and re energising. She stayed for hours during the first week in hospital helping me by holding Ashley when I needed to shower and rest. Cara is the right person for the role of a Doula because she will be right there when you need her and know when to give you room too. Cara beautifully photographed a recent homebirth of one of my Doula clients capturing these precious moments with skill, sensitivity and care. Cara’s naturally gentle manner made her presence next to invisible. She was at all times respectful of the birth space, unobtrusive and silent .. traits that are so essential for a Birth Photographer. Cara cared for both my children during pre-school years in a way that I could never have imagined would be possible. Eight years later, the compliments I receive from people in respect of their behaviour and disposition is due in no small part to the beautiful, nurturing way Cara conducts her interactions with children of all ages. She understands human connections so I have no doubt that she'll be successful in this venture.
Cara cared for my daughter for 3 years in her family day care. She is beautiful, warm and caring with mothers and young children and understands all the complexities of early childhood from many years spent with many young families. She will be an amazing doula.
